One:    Wherever we are, wherever we go,

All:      God is near.

One:    So let us enter into this service of worship

All:      with confidence and hope, knowing that God is already with us, and that God              stands eager to meet us and bless us with love.

*     Opening Hymn VU #389 – “God is Here”

Prayer of Approach and Confession

Blessed God, we thank you for all the blessings of this life, for the gift of life, for the gift of Christ, for the gift of the Holy Spirit, for your tender mercy.

Many times we become like the priest standing in judgement over others, sure that what we say or do is pleasing to You and placing ourselves over and above others.

Help us to remember the blessing of Jesus, who came so that we might truly understand what it means to live in relationship with you. For Your saving love we are grateful.

Let Your love, steadfast and faithful, be a great sign from heaven, and may Your peace bend our will to Your will, like trees in a strong wind. Signs of heaven, sighs of hope, stirrings of gracious love. Amen.
