All:      In these commandments, God has summed up the ways we must respect one               another.
One:    Rejoice in the goodness of God.
All:      Praise God for God’s complete and steadfast love for us.  Amen.

*     Opening Hymn VU #222 – “Come, Let Us Sing”

Prayer of Approach and Confession

Loving God, we come together to worship you, so that we might learn how you desire us to live.

You tell us that we shall have no other gods before You.

God of forgiveness, help us to love you with all our heart, all our soul, all our mind and all our strength.

You tell us not make for yourself an idol. God of patience, help us to worship you in spirit and in truth.

You implore us to not misuse Your name. God of compassion, help us to honour You with reverence and awe.

You help us understand that we too need rest and so we must remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy. God of shelter, help us to remember Christ raised from the dead, and to set our minds on things above, not on things on the earth.

Help us to remember that worship is a time that we come to hear your words for our lives. We pray in Jesus name. Amen.

Recognition of AOTS, 40 years of service

Introduction

We are all called to ministry in the world and these ministries are always changing and evolving. We recognize that as we change we are challenged to find new ways to live out our calls. We come together this morning to remember and honour all of the work that has blessed this community through the creation of, and work of, As One That Serves (AOTS). Through fellowship, community building, and giving, all who were involved in this group added to the life of this community in so many ways. We are here today to thank you God, for all of those who were a part of AOTS throughout the years and to thank them for their service to our community. They have been a blessing to us all. I would invite all of you who were a part of this group to please stand this morning as we offer prayer for all that you have given us, here at Windsor Park United Church.

Prayer

Leader: O Holy One, for steadfast love,

All:       we give thanks.

Leader:  For the call to ministry in all of its forms,

All:       we give thanks.

Leader:  For AOTS and all those who found fellowship and ministry            within this group,

All:       we give thanks.

Leader: For the work of AOTS within this community and in the wider        world,

All:       we give you thanks.

Leader: For the blessing that AOTS has been to this community for             the past 40 years,

All:       we give you thanks and praise.

Leader: We rejoice together for the good work that was done in and         through the ministry of AOTS, a ministry that we have shared   and we pray for blessing as we envision new ways to be in community and continue the work to which we are called as          people of God.

All:       Amen.

Thank you all for your work over the years and we look forward to what new ministries might come in the future.

Children’s Time – The Ten Commandments for kids!

Pastoral Prayer / The Lord’s Prayer

*        Closing Hymn – “Ten Commandments”

“Moses climbed the mountain high,
God spoke to Moses from the cloud of smoke.
Lightning flashed and the mountain shook and thundered when God spoke.
Chorus:

Ten commandments God did give

To you and me to help us live
That we may learn to love our God,
And live together in peace.

Number one says WORSHIP GOD
Number two says MAKE NO OTHER GODS
Number three, RESPECT GOD’S NAME – DON’T USE IT CARELESSLY!
Number four says TAKE ONE DAY TO REST, AND HONOR ALL GOD MADE.
So every week we work and play and worship on the Sabbath day.

Chorus

Number five says LOVE YOUR MOM AND DAD.
Number six says DON’T KILL ANYONE.
Seven says BE FAITHFUL TO EACH OTHER WHEN YOU’RE A PARTNER FOR LIFE.
Number eight says DO NOT STEAL
Nine says DON’T TELL LIES ABOUT EACH OTHER,
Number ten says DO NOT WANT TO TAKE WHAT BELONGS TO ANOTHER.

Chorus”

*        Commissioning / Benediction

*        Response:

Send us out in the power of your Spirit, Lord!

May our lives bring Jesus to the world.

May each thought and word bring glory to your name.

Send us out in Your Spirit, Lord, we pray.
