Outreach Council News

The Outreach Council is piloting a program with Tim Horton’s (the one at Lagimodiere and Fermor). Leftover baked goods will be collected from the restaurant each morning and packaged by volunteers. The donated item will then be transferred to West Broadway Community Ministry for their lunch program and emergency food pantry. We need clean, empty bread bags in which to package the food. If you can collect some for us, please place these in the WBCM Bin at the entrance to the church. If you have any questions, please speak to Gwen Polak. Thank-you in advance for your support.

On any given weekday, the volunteer staff at West Broadway Community Ministry provides programming and prepares lunch for 100 to 180 people. These people include seniors on fixed incomes, working class poor, individuals with social/emotional challenges, and young children. WPUC volunteers take donations to the West Broadway Community Ministry to support their lunch program, shower/laundry facilities, and emergency food pantry. A variety of items are always needed including: sandwich-making supplies (such as canned meat/fish, cheez whiz, peanut butter), sugar and coffee. During the summer months when support tends to lessen, the need for basic supplies can become quite acute. If you are able to donate any items, please place these in the bin (labeled) WBCM in the foyer of the church. Many thanks for any help that you can provide.

The Outreach Council is planning to prepare and serve four (4) lunches at the West Broadway site during the summer. We are looking for volunteers to help us prepare a meal (generally, sandwich-making), provide baking or fruit, or come with us to serve a meal. If you have some time, talent or resources to share, please speak with Gwen Polak. Muchos gracias, amigos!
