Call to Worship

One:    Grace and peace to your from the One who is, who always was, and who still is to come—

All:      the Alpha and Omega—the beginning and the end.

One:    This is our God—the One who loves us, and who gave themselves for us;

All:      who gathers us together in this place, and bids us seek his face.

One:    The One that calls us into a priesthood of all believers.

All:      Come, let us worship God together!

Prayer of Approach

O Living God of past and future, we praise you for this present moment. Fill us with your joy and empower us with your Holy Spirit, that our strength may be renewed to sing a new song of your glory in a world which longs for your justice and peace.

Architect and builder of the heavenly city yet to come, look in judgment on the cities of the world, where greed forces many to live in squalor and filth; where indifference condemns many to live alone and unwanted; where lust tempts many to use others callously, thoughtlessly and heartlessly; where hate drives many to crowd together for protection because their skin, their race or their belief is unpopular or unwanted.

Look in mercy on those who suffer at the hands of their fellows, and teach us all that in Christ we can find the power to live generously, compassionately and lovingly, that cities of the world may become true reflections of the City of God; for Jesus’ sake. Amen.
