Response MV #8 – “And On This Path”

Call to Worship

One:    We praise you for your work. We praise you for your greatness.
Response:     We praise you Lord.
One:    You march proudly next to us each new day. The sparkling parade has begun.  R
One:    You lead the vast parade, your brilliant baton held high in the air. R
One:    We experience you in every electric beat of music. We notice you in every cheering onlooker.  R
One:    We experience you in the glorious band of trumpets, drums and flutes. We experience you in joyful laughter, dance, and song.  R
One:    You help us to notice the magnificent parade when we are no longer able to march.  R
One:    We know the parade continues, on and on and on.
All:      We praise you Lord! Amen!

Time for All Ages

Prayer of Approach and Confession
See us with our palm branches waving, Holy One, our banners held high to welcome the hero.  Hear our shouts of jubilation for the promise of new life.
Lead us through this day of joy and sorrow, this week of drama, this season of highs and lows…. (liturgist continues)

…Now let us settle into the silence of our hearts: the silence of the solitary cell, the empty street, the windy hill where crosses stand. May the Spirit that spoke so well in Jesus find a home in us, loosen our tongues and set free our hearts to live in Christ’s way. Amen.   (adapted from Robin Wardlaw.  Gathering, Lent/Easter 2019, page 37. Used with permission)

*Commissioning / Benediction

One:    From every place and every nation, they came, shouting:
All:      Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
One:    In the midst of turmoil and fear, they shouted:
All:      Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
One:    From our excitement and our boredom, from our fear and confusion, from our anxiety and anticipation, we came shouting:
All:      Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
One:    Now let us go into our community, our world, shouting:
All:      Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
