Calling All Knitters

Splash Daycare is in need of about a dozen arm warmers for children, a dozen leg warmers for children, and about 10 to 12 adult size leg warmers. If you require patterns, please contact the office at office@windsorparkunitedchurch.com

When finished, these can be dropped off at the church (call first to make sure that someone is there to receive them) or contact the office and pickup can be arranged.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace

Snuggling under a cozy blanket is a comfort many of us particularly enjoy during the winter. Sadly, many children in our city do not have access to the luxury of a bed and linens. To address this need, retired police officer, Jim Thiessen, has founded a local chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The non-profit organization is dedicated to constructing twin-sized beds and donating these – complete with mattresses and bedding – to children whose families lack the resources to afford such comforts.

If you are interested, join us in a “virtual blanket-making bee”.  You can knit, crochet, sew, or quilt a new twin-sized blanket/afghan/bed covering.  Completed items can be dropped off at the church during the month of February. Please call first to make sure someone is there to take your donations. A safe pick-up can be arranged.  All donated items will be taken to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace depot in early March. Please contact Deanna Kernaghan (lenanddee@shaw.ca) or Gwen Polak (gpolak@mymts.net) for additional information.

Message from Patrick

If you feel the need to talk, to vent, to laugh, to hear another’s voice, please know that the phone and the email at the church is constantly being checked so if you need to speak to me, please call. If you get the answering machine, leave your name and number and I will call you back. We are in this together and we will get through this together, because that is what we do here at Windsor Park United Church.

If You Are Inside The Church Building

If, for any reason, you enter the church building you will find a log book and hand sanitizer. Please use the hand sanitizer, sign the log book, and record what areas of the building you are in (no matter how short your stay!). It is mandatory that you also wear a mask. This is to aid in keeping the building clean, sanitized, and safe.
