September 14 – Worship led by Licensed Lay Worship Leader Irma Nadeau
September 21 – Worship led by Diane Meredith
September 28 – Worship led by Diane Meredith/Sunday before National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day)

During the Season of Creation, we will also be exploring the Song of Faith of the United Church of Canada.

School Supply DonationsThank you to those everyone who donated school supplies during the month of August.  The Blessing of the School Supplies took place during worship on August 31.  Donated supplies were shared with Frontenac and Archwood Schools.

Pastoral Care Group – As we enter the fall months, just a reminder that if you are aware of anyone from our church community who might benefit from Pastoral Care support, please email or leave a general message (office@windsorparkunitedchurch.com or 204-256-8792) to share discreetly – someone will get back to you.  You can also reach out to Sue Turley (204-256-8792) or Pat Lumsden (204-254-6301).

The Holy Grounds Café is open every Wednesday from 1-2:30 p.m. Come out for a coffee and a visit – all welcome!

Do you enjoy coffee and a visit after church? We need more volunteers to sign up to take a Sunday to help make coffee.  You are also invited to bring in baking for an after-church treat.  Let’s keep coffee time going strong! And THANK YOU to those who kept coffee time going during the month of August by hosting/helping clean up and/or donating baking/fresh veggies!

Emergency Food Cupboard – Our Emergency Food Pantry will be  open on Wednesdays mornings (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) and Thursday afternoons (1-3 p.m.) during the fall months and we are again looking for volunteers to sign up for these 2-hour shifts.
Thank you to everyone who volunteered to work a shift during the summer months!  The food pantry helped over 30 neighbours and pets with their critical food needs over the summer.  Current needs include baked beans, canned fruit, fruit cups, canned vegetables and snacks such as granola bars for children’s lunches.

Little Free Library – If you are at the church and notice the Little Free Library needs a tidy, please feel free to go ahead!  Also, please check to see that the doors are closed and latched (at the bottom) so that rain and wind don’t damage the books.  Thank you to the folks who moved the Library to a more easily accessed location for all!

Garden Caretakers –  Thank you to the team of volunteers who took the time to water and weed our gardens during the summer months.  Thank you, as well, to those who trimmed the shrubs in the memorial garden!

Sidewalk RepairThank you to the volunteers who re-set the sidewalk blocks by the parking lot.  We again have a nice, even path for walking!

Worship Choir Start-up –
The first worship choir of 2025-2026 will be on Thursday, September 11 at 7:45 p.m.  All are welcome!
We will also be having a Pop-Up Choir on Sunday, September 7 for those who would like to help lead the music in worship this week. Please meet with Laura and Myrna at 9:45 a.m. on Sunday morning to run through the music for the service.  All welcome!

Offering Counters Needed – As we head into the fall months, there is a need to add a few more volunteers to our team of people who count the offering after church each Sunday.  There is a sign-up sheet by the office.
If you haven’t done it before and would like to learn, we can show you how!

Tech help needed! – If you would like to learn how to run the livestream or use the “clicker” during the worship service to change the worship slides, please speak to Laura or Sue.  Thank you to Gwen Polak for volunteering to assist with the PowerPoint creation each week!

Live Stream help needed! – If you would like to learn more about how we send out the live stream on Sundays, we’d love to have you on our Tech Team! Please call the office or speak to Doug Waldron if interested!  Also, special thanks to Doug for his dedication in keeping this ministry going!

LOOKING FOR THE RIGHT SPOT? As we gather for worship in the coming weeks, there will be opportunities to reflect upon the role each of us plays in making WPUC a welcoming space where we strengthen our faith and serve our neighbours.  While we are not a large congregation, we are nonetheless “mighty” in terms of our enthusiasm, generosity, and talent. We can and do accomplish much through the course of the year.

On the next two Sundays, watch for Chairs (or leads) from various councils who will speak briefly about the work undertaken by those councils. They will suggest ways in which church members can become involved. Whether you’re interested in a few short-term tasks or would prefer to do one on-going project, there is undoubtedly a volunteer opportunity that is just right for you.

As you listen to the presentations, please prayerfully consider where your talents might be of use – and make a difference – in the coming year.  After worship or during regular church office hours, you can sign up on the sheet(s) corresponding to the Council(s) of your choice.  The sign-up sheets will be posted in the back of the sanctuary until the end of September.  At that time, they will be passed along to the Council chairs/leads who will use the information when recruiting help for upcoming activities. Thank you in advance for keeping your eyes (and heart) open as you find the right spot for you to fill.

Liturgist Workshop – The worship cluster is inviting you to join them on Sunday, September 28, after worship downstairs in the South Room to learn more about how to be an effective liturgist in worship.  The liturgist is an important part of the team of people who lead worship on Sunday mornings. We are inviting people who are already participating in worship leadership on a Sunday morning, people who are interested in taking part but are unsure of what to do, how to do it, and what the commitment would be on their part and we welcome those who are curious as to just what is expected of someone being liturgist.  If you have any questions before the workshop, please speak to Gayle Henders (Chair of the Worship Cluster) or Sue Turley.  See you on the 28th!

Used Book Sale – Our next used book sale will be on Sunday, September 28, 2025 before and after worship service.  Payment is by cash donation.  Come early and browse for something to read on these cool fall evenings!

Keep spreading the word!  WPUC has space for rent!  Thank you to everyone who has been sharing suggestions and information on our rental spaces.  For more information on spaces and fees, please visit http://www.windsorparkunitedchurch.com/services/  or call the church office!
