Hymn – “We Praise You, O God” (Voices United #218)

We praise you, O God, our Redeemer, Creator;
In grateful devotion our tribute we bring.
We lay it before you; we kneel and adore you;
We bless your holy name, glad praises we sing.

We worship you, God of our mothers and fathers,
Through trial and tempest, companion and guide.
When perils o’ertake us, you will not forsake us,
But faithful to your promise, you walk by our side.

With voices united our praises we offer
And gladly our songs of thanksgiving we raise.
Our sins now confessing, we pray for your blessing,
To you, our great Redeemer, forever be praise!

Prayer of Approach and Confession

One:   God, you are the maker of all things wise and wonderful—of elephants and trees, honking geese and falling leaves;
All:      of mountains and foxes, prairie grasses and polar bears;

One:   You paint the autumn sky on a windswept hill and inspire poets to write;
All:      You whisper music into the ears of many and songs of faith are born;

One:   Into the depths of the sea you place rainbows;
All:      Up in the heights of the sky you place stars too plentiful to count;

One:   You fill our lives with miracles and mysteries.
All:      But God, so often we take your gifts for granted, and forget to say thank you. Forgive us and help us to open our eyes, our ears, and our hearts to all your gifts. We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Words of Assurance

Sung Response – “Glory to the Creator” (Then Let Us Sing #4)

Glory to the creator,
And the Christ and the Spirit so near,
As it was from the start so it shall be-
Forever one God always here.

Glory to the creator,
And the Christ and the Spirit so near,
As it was from the start so it shall be-
Forever one God always here.
One God, always here,
One God, always here.

Gospel Reading:        Luke 17:11-19

11 Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. 12 As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance 13 and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”

14 When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.

15 One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. 16 He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

17 Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? 18 Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” 19 Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”

May God speak to us through these readings of scripture.
Thanks be to God!

Sermon: “Your Faith Has Made You Well”

Anthem “All Praise and Thanksgiving”

All praise and thanksgiving to God of all Glory,
To God the Almighty we offer our praise.
For all of creation, for all of our blessings,
All praise and thanksgiving we offer to God.

We thank thee for all we are given,
The world that we live in,
For family and friends.
We praise thee for all of your mercy
And offer up to thee our grateful Amen.

All praise and thanksgiving to God of all Glory,
To God the Almighty we offer our praise.
For all of creation, for all of our blessings,
All praise and thanksgiving we offer to God.

Sing Amen.
Sing praise, Hallelujah,
Our voices raise to you for time without end.
Sing Amen.
All praise and thanksgiving,
As long as we’re living, our worship we send.

All praise and thanksgiving to God of all Glory,
To God the Almighty we offer our praise.
For all of creation, for all of our blessings,
All praise and thanksgiving we offer to God.

Song of Faith

One:   We find God made known in Jesus of Nazareth, and so we sing of God the Christ, the Holy One embodied.

One:   We sing of Jesus, a Jew, born to a woman in poverty in a time of social upheaval and political oppression.
All:      He knew human joy and sorrow. So filled with the Holy Spirit was he that in him people experienced the presence of God among them. We sing praise to God incarnate.

One:   Jesus announced the coming of God’s reign—a common wealth not of domination but of peace, justice, and reconciliation.
All:      He preached and practiced unconditional love—love of God, love of neighbour, love of friend, love of enemy—and he commanded his followers to love one another as he had loved them.

One:   Because his witness to love was threatening,
All:      He suffered abandonment and betrayal, state-sanctioned torture and execution. He was crucified.

One:   But death was not the last word. God raised Jesus from death, turning sorrow into joy, despair into hope.
All:      We sing of Jesus raised from the dead. We sing hallelujah.

Sung Response (Voices United #969)

Amen, Amen, Amen.

Invitation to Share

Offering Sung Response “For the Gift of Creation” (Voices United #538)

For the gift of creation, the gift of your love,
And the gift of the Spirit by which we live,
We thank you and give you the fruit of our hands.
May your grace be proclaimed by the gifts that we give.

Offering Prayer

Prayers of the People

One:   God of surprises—
All:      Hear our prayer.

Passing of the Peace

The Prayer Jesus Taught Us:

One:   Please join me in praying as Jesus taught us: Our Creator who is like
All:      Our Mother and our Father, who are in heaven,
Hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
And forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:
For yours is the kingdom, the power and the glory, now ever and forever. Amen.

We Go Into God’s World

Hymn“Let All Things Now Living” (Voices United #242)

Let all things now living a song of thanksgiving
To God our creator triumphantly raise;
Who fashioned and made us, protected and stayed us,
By guiding us on to the end of our days.

God’s banners are o’er us, pure light goes before us,
A pillar of fire shining forth in the night;
Till shadows have vanished and darkness is banished,
As forward we travel from light into Light.

By law God enforces, the stars in their courses
And sun in its orbit obediently shine;
The hills and the mountains, the rivers and fountains,
The depths of the ocean proclaim God divine.

We, too, should be voicing our love and rejoicing
With glad adoration a song let us raise:
Till all things now living unite in thanksgiving,
To God in the highest, hosanna and praise.

Commissioning

Benediction
